Germinator Exhibition RGBE
Edinburgh, Scotland, July 2018

This project was commissioned by Centipede Project of North Edinburgh, between Feb 2017- July 2018.

The artist worked with over 250 children in three primary schools over the period of 18 months combining biology, gardening and art in one collaborative project.

The children were encouraged to plant their own edibles, and after harvesting, created food, paint pigments and collaborative artworks with the produce. A soil scientist was commissioned to make new slides of soil based insects which the children observed through powerful microscopes so that the children learned that soil is ‘alive’. Tea parties and exhibitions were presented to celebrate the children’s involvement, with a final exhibition at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh.
