Poetry Gate

North Edinburgh Arts Garden, 2014. Artist in Residence participatory project. Made by the artist and a team of local adults trained in lettercutting by the artist.
This carved gate was the result of the hard work and dedication of a class of local adults offered free lettercutting by the artist.
Over seven weeks the students learned how to accurately transfer letters onto hardwood, incise, and cut out the Roman style lettering. The poem itself was developed and created by the group during a workshop with Ryan Van Winkle.
